J.W. Brooks

I’m 60 years old and have been in active recovery since summer 2016. During my recovery, after my initial step work, I have been a sponsee, sponsor, group treasurer, monthly rotating chairperson, presented at many commitments including (pre-COVID) AA meeting monthly at the Men’s State Prison in Concord NH and spoke at the Christmas alcathon. I’m a huge believer in recovery; meaning everyone facing an addiction can find a way out of the terrible cycle, if they are willing to change and do the work.

Professionally I have worked in High-Tech as a design, applications and sales engineer with a degree in electrical engineering and a hard won night school MBA. I co-founded one business with my late wife and started a second after her passing.

I’m a father to three adult children and stepfather to one. After my late wife’s sudden passing in 2019 I was blessed to find a second life companion and remarried in 2022. Through the strength of AA and the grace of my higher power, I avoided a relapse in 2019 when my first wife passed.

Recently I have been fortunate enough to step back to part time, professionally, to be able to give back and support elderly parents who live locally. ARCNH is an excellent way for me to start down this new path of more public service, especially on a topic I have both personally experienced and am passionate about.

I’m excited to join if I am seen as a good fit for the organization.

Thank you and best regards, JW Brooks
